Accessibility

Last updated . Many people who use this site live with fatigue, memory changes, vision changes or grief. The site has to work for them first.

Our goal

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA across the whole site. We test with keyboard-only navigation, screen readers and automated checks, and we fix problems as we find them.

What's in place

  • A "Skip to content" link on every page.
  • Crisis numbers at the top of every page, as plain text and tap-to-call links.
  • Gentle mode, a calmer, lower-stimulation view (footer).
  • Pages are readable without JavaScript; the main content is sent as plain HTML.
  • Animations respect your device's "reduce motion" setting where we have fixed them, and we're working through the rest.

What we know is not right yet

  • Some decorative effects still move when your device asks for reduced motion.
  • A few floating buttons can overlap on small phone screens.
  • Some downloadable PDFs from the grant tools are not fully tagged for screen readers.

We're working through these now.
